Atwood, Margaret
Groundbreaking Canadian author. Atwood prefers the term 'speculative fiction' over science fiction to describe her famous 1985 'The Handmaid's Tale'. Many of her works are inspired by the fairy tales that fascinated her in her childhood and deal with the themes of gender and religion as well as myth. Atwood has been shortlisted for the Booker prize several times and won with 'The Blind Assassin' in 2000 and The Testaments in 2019.
