Amis, Kingsley

Sir Kingsley William Amis was a very successful English satirical author, whose best known work, Lucky Jim (1954) really captured the zeitgeist of 1950s England. He went on to write twenty novels and six volumes of poetry and was friends with Phillip Larkin. Kingsley won the Booker prize in 1986 with The Old Devils after having been previously shortlisted twice.
