1840 The Stage Both Before and Behind the Curtain
What Our Customers Say...
The first edition of this work, complete in three volumes. With errata slips to volume II and III. Alfred Bunn was an English theatrical manager. He was stage manager of Drury Lane Theatre, London, Theatre Roayl Birmingham as well as Covent Garden Theatre. Bunn's control of the London theatres was extremely successful in an artistic sense. Nearly every leading actor of tthe age played under his management. He also sought to establish English opera, translating many operas. A fascinating work, giving great insight into nineteenth century theatre. This work discusses the organisational nature of the role, as well as featuring several anecdotes and passages on specific individuals in the industry.
