What Our Customers Say...
Leather Binding, Very Scarce
A very scarce copy. Containing a variety of scores with accompanying title pages detailing the title, composer and lyric writer. Including a selection of notable works, by composers such as Gioachino Rossini, Harriet Browne and Niccolò Antonio Zingarelli. Each score has been published separately, and then bound together to form one volume by a prior owner.
In a quarter leather binding with marbled paper boards. Externally rubbed and worn to paper boards. Rubbed to extremities resulting in sections of loss to leather. Rubbed to head and tail of spine and joints, resulting in small split to leather at head of front joint. Hinges partially split and tender. Ink inscription by prior owner to endpapers. Internally generally firmly bound, strained in places. Rossini's 'di piacer mi balza il cor' partially detached to gutter. Pages age toned with the odd handling mark. Occasional pencil or ink marking to the odd page. Scores occasionally offset to facing page. Ink stamp to lower extremity of the occasional page of the 'Royal Harmonic Institution', 'New Bond Street' or the 'Royal music Repository'. Small closed tear to 'Weber's Farenello'. Closed tear to lower extremity, page 3 of 'The Secret a favourite Bohemian Melody', not affecting score and title page to 'The Vintagers Evening Hymn'. Tidemark to upper extremity of 'Trolese Evening Hymn' to 'Those Ev'ning Bells'. Closed tear to the upper extremity of the title page of 'Alice Grey The Ballad', and a large closed tear to final page of the score, repaired with tape. Occasional offsetting to gutter.
