Illustrated, with a frontispiece, vignette title page and several in-text illustrations by A Henning. 

This short tale describes the life of a young dancer from the corps de ballet of a Victorian opera house.

Whitten by Albert Richard Smith, who wrote many tales in this series of so-called natural histories such as 'The Gent', 'Stuck Up People' and 'The Idler Upon Town'.

Condition

In the original paper wraps. Externally, generally smart with light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Small splits to the joints. Light spots to the front and rear wraps. Prior owner's monogram stamp to the front wrap. Internally, generally firmly bound though strained in places. Pages are bright with just the occasional light spots.
