Inscription from the author states 'The Reverend John Kennedy with the Authors Kind Regards'. This may be addressed to the Scottish congregational minister of the same name, who was also an author. This work remains uncut to the top edge of all gatherings. The author of this biography, Thomas Alfred Spalding, was also known for his works 'Elizabethan Demonology' and Federation and Empire'. Spalding was a barrister and honorary treasurer of the 'New Shakspere Society'. This work looks at the career and life of Richard Badiley. Badiley served in the First Anglo-Dutch War. A lovely first edition copy of this work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with light shelfwear to the head and tail of spine. Minor fading to the board edges. Author's presentation inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with occasional scattered spotting, mostly to the first and last few pages. Pages remain uncut to the top edge.
