'l'Art de Jetter les Bombes' is one of the few works on this specific field of artillery of late eighteenth century bombing.

Written at an interesting point in history, the work shows the differences and similarities between the old school of military, and the new theories emerging at the end of the seventeenth century.

The author had been a solider, and during his service he was shocked by the crude methods that the French military used for their bombardiers. This work explains his ideas for the improvements.

Written by Francois Blondel, a solider and engineer. His works were widely read by the general public but was reputed by fellow academics of the day.
