The first edition of this work.

A rare first-hand account of the 1846-7 Mexican War, written by the officer Robert Anderson.

Anderson was a United States Army officer, best known today for his fighting in the American Civil War. During the Mexican War, he participated in the Siege of Vera Cruz, the Battle of Cerro Gordo, and the Battle of Molino del Ray.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and twenty plates.

Collated, complete.

With a foreword written by his daughter, Eba Anderson Lawton.

Bookplate to the front pastedown, ‘Joseph M. Gleason’. Gleaason was a Catholic priest, and collector of books.

Condition

In the original publisher’s cloth binding. Externally, smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Institutional stamp to the reverse of the title page.
