Illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and thirteen plates. Written by Eugene Sue, a French novelist, who was one of the authors who popularised the genre of the serial novel in France. Illustrated by Gavarni.
In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards, a signed binding by Birdsall. Externally, generally smart. Minor rubbing to the boards and spine. Light discolouration to the spine. Evidence of a label being formerly adhered to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean.
