This work was originally published under the name of de Isla's friend Don Francisco Lobon de Salazar in 1758. It is a humorous work, and depicts a peasant boy who rises to prominence as a preacher due to his smooth talking.
A satire on the charlatanism of the popular preaching friars of the day.
This translation, and abridgement is by Thomas Nugent.
Collated, complete, with the final errata leaf.

In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Rebacked, with the original boards preserved. Externally, generally smart. Patches of rubbing to the boards. Light fading to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Marks to the title page of volume II. Occasional light spots to pages.
