First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce
With Illustrated frontispiece and four other illustrations. Beatrice Chase was the pen name for a British writer, who became well known for her Dartmoor-based novels during the first half of the 20th century. Her real name was Olive Katharine Parr, and she claimed to be directly descended from William Parr, the brother of Catherine, the sixth wife of Henry VIII.
Condition
In a cloth binding. Externally, sound with marks to boards and bumping to corners. Fading and marks to backstrip, with bumping to head and tail of spine. Ink inscription to front free end-paper, dated to 1970. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light foxing to first and last few pages.
