This work is one of 300 copies published, for the purpose of donations to West-Indian slaves.
Published in 1834, this anthology is a collection of original contributions in prose, and verse, to illustrate the evils of slavery. Its purpose was to highlight the importance of abolishing the slave trade in British colonies.
Over fifty writers contributed, including James Montgomery, William Howitt, Mrs Bulmer, S.C. Hall, James Edmeston, and John Sheppard.
With an engraved title page.
Tipped in is the errata slip.
A bright copy of this very scarce work, which holds importance in the abolitionist movement at the start of the nineteenth century.
Condition
In the original green cloth binding. Repaired with the original spine and boards preserved. Externally, very smart, with just some minor shelfwear to the board edges. Prior owner's notation to the title page, noting the contributor of this work. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with just the odd spot.
