Description

First Edition, Very Scarce

The first edition of this work. A very scarce work. 'The Egotist' is a satirical play, written during the height of popularity of satirical works. Written by Colley Cibber, a playwright who was also Poet Laureate. He wrote twenty-five plays for his own company at Drury Lane. As an actor, he saw a lot of success in comical fop parts. Collated, bound without pages 75-78, two leaves.

Condition

Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are age-toned with spots. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the odd light spot. Loss to the tail of page 73/74, causing loss to about eleven lines of text. First few pages and last leaf are lifting to the tail.
