1995 Rhonda Broughton's Ghost Stories and other Tales of Mystery and Suspence
What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding
With a length introduction by Marilyn Wood. Signed by Wood to the half-title. Marilyn Wood is the author of the only biography of Rhonda Broughton, and is therefore an expert on her life and work. This introduction highlights the elements of mordant wit and immediacy of language which made the novelist famous. In the original paperback binding and in a lovely condition. With an image of Broughton hall to the front cover. Comprising of Broughton's 'Twilight Stories' and a further seven tales. This collection restores twelve forgotten works, of which the originals are very scarce. The British Library does not even hold the original publications of these stories. Broughton earned a reputation for sensationalism in her novels, and was referred to as the queen of the circulating libraries. An uncommon work itself, with a scarce opportunity to read some forgotten Victorian ghost stories.
Condition
In the original paper wraps. Externally, in an excellent condition with just some minor shelfwear to the extremities. Signed by the editor to the half-title 'Best Wishes Marilyn Wood'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
