'The Vicar of Wakefield' was one of the most popular and widely read novels upon its publication. It's about the fall and rise of the Primrose family, who are presided over by the benevolent narrator, the Vicar.

Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, and twenty-three colour plates.

Collated, complete.

Written by Oliver Goldsmith, an Irish novelist who is best known for this novel, though also for his pastoral poem 'The Deserted Village', and the plays 'The Good-Natur'd Man' and 'She Stoops to Conquer'. 

Illustrated by Maragret Jameson.

Prize label to the front pastedown from Highgate School, presented to F. H. Warwick.

In a full tree calf Bickers binding. Externally, fine. Small mark to the front board. Bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot, mostly to the first and last few pages.
