Being all six volumes bound as three. 

Comprising: Volume I The Life (1709-1765) dated 1934; Volume II The Life (1766-1776) dated 1934; Volume III The Life (1776-1780) dated 1934; Volume IV The Life (1780-1784) dated 1934; Volume V The Tour to the Hebrides and The Journey into North Wales, dated 1950; Volume VI Index, Table of Anonymous Persons, Bibliography, Errata, dated 1950. 

With a frontispiece and two plates to volume I, a frontispiece and two lates to volume II, frontispiece and three plates to volume III, frontispiece and three plates to volume IV, frontispiece and three plates to volume V, frontispiece to volume VI. 

Collated, complete. 

Boswell's life of Johnson is a critically successful biography and is regarded as a landmark in the modern genre of biography. Its personal approach, with accounts of Johnson's own conversations, is an important source regarding Johnson and his times.

Condition

In the original cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart, with minor bumping to the head and tail of spines. A few light marks to the board of volume III. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Pages are very bright with just the odd spot.
