With the Scribner 'A' and the printed colophon to the copyright page as called for.
With the first issue dustwrapper also, with no reference to the Pulitzer or Nobel Prize, or an ISBN number. With the olive tinted photo of Hemingway to the rear wrap. Some copies have the blue tinted picture but neither has authority.
The dustwrapper is price-clipped.
'The Old Man and the Sea' was the last major work of fiction by Hemingway, and was written during his time in Cuba. It tells the story of Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who struggles with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream off the cost of Cuba.
A very bright and clean copy of this work.
In the publisher's original cloth binding. With price-clipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart, with a few light marks to the spine. Light rubbing to the head and tail of spine. Mark to the rear board. Dustwrapper is sound, with chips to the head and tail of spine as well as to the extremities. Rubbing to the joints. A few light tidemarks internally to the wrap at the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean.
