'Hyperion' is a romance novel, following the young American Paul Flemming as he travels through Germany, as he processed the death of his friend. Written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, an American poet, who is best known for his works 'The Song of Hiawatha' and 'Evangeline'. Longfellow is also known for being the first American to translated Dante's 'Divine Comedy'. He was one of the New England Fireside Poets. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, 'Maria Walmer, from her dear husband, 1853'.

In a full morocco binding with gilt decoration to the boards. Externally, smart. Rubbing to the spine. A few light marks to the boards. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
