The first edition, stated as such on the copyright page. In the original unclipped dustwrapper. Beloved by Toni Morrison tells the story of a family of former slaves whose house is haunted by a ghost. The work is set in the aftermath of the American Civil War and is credited for its stark consideration of the psychological effects of slavery. Upon release the work was met with much critical acclaim, most notably winning the 1988 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. The work remains to the day a canonical text of anti-slavery writing.

Condition

In the original cream cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally in excellent condition. Dustwrapper is in excellent condition with minor shelf wear only. The occasional mark to the wrap. Publisher's sticker to rear of wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with the odd spot, slightly heavier to the fore edge.
