First Edition, With Dustwrapper
The first UK edition, first impression. The UK edition precedes the US edition by four days. In the original pictorial dustwrapper. Across The River and Into The Trees followed Hemingway's widely successful work For Whom The Bell Tolls after a gap of nearly ten years. The work is, however, more thematically similar to another of his greatest novels, A Farewell To Arms, in that both are set in wartime Italy. Upon release, the work was met with much critical acclaim and was his only novel to top the New York Bestsellers list.
In the original green cloth binding in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear to the extremities. The odd spot to the boards, heavier to the spine. Dustwrapper is very smart, with shelf wear and bumping to the extremities, heavier to the head and tail of the spine. Browning to the reverse of the wrap. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with marginal age toning due to paper used. The odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages.
