Rebound in decorative tree calf, with gilt detail to the spine. Illustrated throughout. Part of the Heroes of the Nations series, edited by Evelyn Abbott. The work is largely taken from Bourne's work Memoir of Sir Philip Sidney, published in 1862. The work offers a comprehensive biography regarding English poet, courtier, scholar and soldier, Philip Sidney and his life as one of the most prominent figures of the Elizabethan Age. A lovely copy of an important biography.

Condition

In a tree calf binding with gilt detail to the spine. Externally in excellent condition with slight rubbing to the joints and spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd spot, heavier to the first and last few pages.
