The first edition of this work. Smartly rebound. A collection of thirty-six letters written by Christian Augustus Fischer on a journey to Montpellier, between February and March 1804. In these letters, the author discussed botany and natural history, as well as the characters and economy of the French people. These letters were written just before the author took the position of Professor of Culture and Literature in Wurzburg. Fischer was a German traveller and author, who also published the work, 'Travels in Spain, Performed in the Year 1798'.
Condition
Rebound in a quarter cloth binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with the odd spot.
