First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

'The Man with the Golden Gun' is the best-selling final novel of Fleming's Bond series. The work follows Bond as he seeks to assassinate Francisco Scaramanga, the 'Man with the Golden Gun'. It was adapted in 1974, featuring Roger Moore as Bond and Christopher Lee as the villain.

Ian Fleming (1908-1964) was a British journalist, intelligence officer and writer. His 'James Bond' series is one of the most influential pieces of spy fiction, having sold over one hundred million copies worldwide. It has spanned an extremely popular film series, featuring seven actors starring as the titular character. 

In the second state binding, as is most common with this work. 

Complete with the original Richard Chopping dustwrapper.

Previous owner's ink inscription to the front free-endpaper: 'To Bertie, Wishing you a speedy recovery and a Merry Xmas, Ron & Ruth Clay'.

A smart example of this influential Bond work.

This copy came from the library at Julians Park, Hertfordshire, the previous home of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie (1902-1968). She was an English socialite and through her mother was the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. With the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart. Rubbing to the head and tail of spine which has resulted in a small amount of loss. A few light marks to the boards. Dustwrapper is generally smart. The spine is slightly soiled, with chipping to the head and tail. Rubbing to the head of spine. Tidemark internally to the head of the rear wrap and to the head of spine. Former owner's inscription to the recto of font endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Light spots to the fore-edge affecting the occasional page.
