This work is Henderson's letters, papers and lectures and are edited by K D D Henderson, the governor of Darfur. 

Sir Douglas Newbold was the Governor of Kordofan from 1932-1938 and was Civil Secretary from 1939-1945. He was an important colonial governor. When he worked in Sudan it was during the political transition of Sudan and had a great passion for the Sudanese people. He protected the Sudanese from commercial and political exploitation before defending them from foreign invasion. 

Illustrated, with a frontispiece, thirty-six illustrations, and four maps including one folding. 

A bright, well preserved first edition copy of this work which looks at Sudan from the perspective of an important figure in the colonial administration.

Condition

In a full cloth binding, with gilt stamping to the spine. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Minor bumping to the head and tail of spine. Bookseller's label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright. Occasional light spots to the fore-edge. Otherwise, just the odd spot to pages.
