Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, one colour folding map, one monochrome folding plate, four colour folding plates, and four monochrome folding plates.
Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, five colour folding plates, one monochrome folding plate, and three monochrome plates.
Volume III illustrated with one colour folding map, four colour folding plates, and three monochrome plates.
Written by Maurice Paleologue, who knew the Tsar's family, as he was the French ambassador to Russia.
The original wraps are bound in.
Condition
Rebound in a quarter cloth binding with marbled paper to the boards, original wraps bound in. Externally, smart. Some bumping to the extremities. Minor marks to the boards and spines. A little rubbing to the boards. Front hinge of Volume III is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the half-titles.
