Description

First Edition, Rebound, Very Scarce

The first edition of this work.

Complete in two volumes.

A very scarce work.

An account of various crimes that took place within the jurisdiction of the Thuggee and Dacoitie police over the period of around thirty years.

The crimes detailed in this book include poisonings, robbing, blackmail, plunderings, and more, as well as discussing trials that were undertaken during this time period.

‘Some Records of Crime’ is a very interesting snapshot into a brief period of Indian history, when the police were still a new institution, as the Police Act of 1861 established the principles of organization for police forces.

Written by General Charles Hervey, who was the sometime General Superintendent of the Operations for the Suppression of Thuggee and Docitie in India.
