Scarce. The first edition of the work. Volume two only. Volume one was published in 1794. An Epitome of History offers an overview of historical, political and religion history. The work is divided by countries, with this particular work covering Japan, China, Tibet, Persia, Egypt and The United States of America, among others. The work is grand in scope, aiming to include major historical events, along with current governments and the religions of the various regions.

Condition

In a full calf binding. Externally sound with rubbing to the boards and extremities resulting in loss to the leather. Worming to boards resulting in some loss to the leather. Hinges are strained. Contemporary ink signature to front free endpaper. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with just the odd spot.
