This excerpt is the proceedings of the trial of M Bertin aine, the editor in chief of the Journal des Debats. He was accused of libel against the King and therefore attacking constitutional authority. This work therefore contains the requisitory of M Berard Desgla-Jeux, the lawyer general, the plea and also the judgement.
The 'Liberte de la Presse' was edited and written by Francois-Rene, vicomte de Chateaubriand. He was a French writer, politician, diplomat and historian who had great influence on French literature of the nineteenth century.

Disbound. Externally, smart, with just a few light spots to the front and rear wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with just the odd spot.
