Leveson-Gower was a Scottish peer, best remember today for her involvement in the Highland Clearances. She also witnessed the French Revolution first hand, and wrote about the political turmoil of the time, and was a correspondent of Sir Walter Scott.

In a full speckled calf armorial binding. Externally, smart. Very light rubbing to the spine and joints. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Bookplate and label to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Prior owner's ink inscription to the head of the title page.
