A detailed history of the Athenaeum Club, a noted private members' club in London, which was founded in 1824. The club is primarily for people who have accomplished some distinction , in science, literature, or the arts.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and thirty-one plates.

Collated, complete.

Written by Thomas Humphry Ward, who is best known for being the husband of the author Mary Augusta Ward.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. A little fading to the spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards and spine. Small crack to the head of the rear joint and to the tail of the front joint. A few spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
