First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Bookplate to the front pastedown of all volumes 'Presented by the Trustees of The British Museum' and to the recto of front endpapers 'Newport Public Libraries Reference Department'. Occasional institutional stamps for this library. 

Illustrated, with seventeen plates to volume I, nine plates to volume II, eight plates to volume III, eight plates to volume IV. 

Collated, complete. 

An important geological work. 

This work was written by Professor John Walter Gregory, the British geologist and explorer. Gregory worked at the Natural History Museum for many years. This catalogue was one of the many publications by Gregory which includes but is not limited to his monograph on the 'Jurassic Corals of Cutch' and 'The Elements of Economic Geology'.

Condition

In the original full cloth bindings. Externally, generally smart with light shelfwear to the extremities and to the head and tail of spine. Library shelf labels to the bottom of all spines. Small ink spill to the head of front board to volume I. Bookplates to the front pastedowns of all volumes and to the verso of front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Cockling to the first twelve pages of volume IV. Pages are bright with the occasional light spots. Several institutional stamps to the margins of pages.
