The first edition thus of this work, being the first popular edition. Complete in two volumes. An extensive work on the annals and antiquities of Rajasthan, written based on materials collected by the author during his travels in Rajasthan. Two folding plates to Volume I. Written by James Tod, who is best known for this work. Tod was an officer of the British East India Company. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper.

Condition

In a half cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Crack to the head of the front joints, heavier crack to Volume II. Lifting to the head and tail of the spine of Volume I. Light marks to the boards and spine. Tidemark to the top edges. Some loss of paper to the front board of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the odd spot. First folding plate in Volume I is torn, with a tape repair to the reverse.
