With an Index to the Authors and titles. This work is revised to include publications up until December 31 1961. The Bureau of American Ethnology was established in 1879 by an act of Congress. The purpose was to transfer archives, records and materials relating to the Indigenous peoples of North America from the Interior Department to the Smithsonian Institution. The research staff of the BAE included some of the earliest field anthropologists in America.

Condition

In original paper wraps. Externally, very smart with minor bumping to the extremities. Age toning to spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
