Middleton fought in the Navy during the Seven Years' War, and the American War of Independence, playing a crucial role in the abolition of slavery.
Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece.
Volume III illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, one folding plate, and one plate.
Edited by Sir John Knox Laughton, who was the principal founder of the Navy Records Society.
Condition
In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, with some marks to the boards and spines. Very light bumping to the extremities. Rear hinge of Volume II is starting but firm. Front hinge of Volume III is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots.
