What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Pleasing Copy, Publishers' Original Binding

Kipling is best known for his novel 'The Jungle Book', however he was a prolific writer of poems, novels, and short stories. Being born in India inspired much of his work, and he went on to become one of the most popular writers of his time. This is volume II only of the original two volume work, detailing Kipling's 1889 travels in the United States. Featuring a gilt stamped Kipling emblem of an elephant carrying a lotus flower and a small swastika to the front board. This emblem was designed in order to reflect the influence of Indian culture on Kipling's work. Once the Nazis came to power and usurped the swastika, Kipling ordered that it should no longer adorn his books. With publisher's advertisements to the rear of the text.

Condition

Slight fading to spine, as expected with this colour binding. The odd mark to boards. Slight offsetting and the odd light scattered spot to endpapers. Internally firmly bound.
