Early Edition, Illustrated, Leather Binding, Rebound

This charming two volume edition of 'Confessions of Con. Cregan: The Irish Gil Blas', was written by Charles Lever and illustrated throughout by Hablot K. Brown.

Charles Lever was an Irish author whose novels have been praised for their easy flow and pace. He was born in Dublin, and wrote quite often about Ireland and Irish culture.

Hablot Brown was an English artist, and also illustrated books for Charles Dickens and Harrison Ainsworth.

Condition

Handsomely bound in half calf with marbled covered boards. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and shelf wear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages spotted to the first and last few pages with odd spot throughout. There is a small fold to pages 41 to 63 on the bottom of the fore-margin in volume one. The is a small stain to the bottom of pages 300 and 301 of volume two, though it does not obscure words.
