1964 Language Made Plain
What Our Customers Say...
First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper
This first edition of acclaimed author and composer Anthony Burgess' exploration and overview of linguistics, offering an introduction to semantics, phonetics, and the development of language without dealing with any specific language. Anthony Burgess is perhaps best known for 'A Clockwork Orange', and alongside his wealth of novels, he also published critical studies, wrote screenplays, and delved into non-fiction, as with this 'Language Made Plain'. First edition, with dustwrapper. A master of written language explores the very nature of his medium in this insight into linguistics.
In the publisher's original cloth binding, with unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. The dustwrapper has some age-toning, shelfwear to the head and tail of the spine, and some small chips and tears to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound, strained in places. The pages are bright and clean.
