What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding

In a very smart later full calf binding, with gilt stamping to the spine. The title page states that this is volume I of this work, which was all that was published. Collated, complete. With the two contents leaves misbound at the rear between 2K1 and 2K2. Samuel Parr praised this work as being a defence of the British against the colonists. It is Lind's best known work after his 'Letters Concerning the Present State of Poland' which is cited to this title page. Lind was a close friend of Jeremy Bentham, who later claimed to have written the 'Design' to this work, which follows the preface. It is said that the publication of this work lead to Lind's two sisters receiving a pension of £50 p.a. ESTC reference no. T77304. A fascinating work, which gives a loyalist stand point of the American War of Independence.
