The first and only edition of this work. Printed only for family and friends, this work was limited to 2,000 copies. This particular copy is out of series, with Allen Lane's inscription to the final leaf. Loosely inserted is a printed grey card from Allen Lane noting that he has decided instead of Christmas cards, to sent his friends a book or keepsake printed for private circulation only. With an appendix being a report of the House of Lords debate on the motion to ban certain works of D.H Lawrence. Illustrated by Paul Hogarth, with a selection of cartoons. The transcript of the trial has been edited here by C H Rolph. The trial of Regina vs Penguin books took place over six days, which was under the Obscene Publications Act of 1959.
Condition
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean.
