What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition

ESTC reference No R13081. This historical source provides a viewpoint on the suppression of Roman Catholicism. It was written at the peak of Titus Oate's 'Popish Plot' and anti-Catholic hysteria in England and Scotland. Oates alleged that there was a Catholic conspiracy to assassinate Charles II. During this period the Jesuits suffered the most, as nine Jesuits were executed and twelve died in prison. This treatise outlines how to suppress them without allowing them the reputation of 'martyr'. A very bright, well preserved copy of this important historical tract.

Condition

Disbound, as issued. Externally, very smart with just a few light marks to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright, with just the odd spot. Prior owner's pagination inscription to the top outer corner.
