First Edition, Publishers' Original Binding, With Dustwrapper

The first edition. With original unclipped dustwrapper. Internally is a facsimile letter from the author stating 'I am sending you this survey of our economic problem, in the hope that, whether you agree with all its conclusions, or not, you will find it deserving of your careful study, LS Amery.' This letter appears to be in most first edition copies of this work. This work explores the post-war economic climate. Amery produces a thesis on how the country can emerge from the vicious spiral of under-production and over-taxation. His writings are also in the context of the Commonwealth and Colonial Empire. L S Amery was a British Conservative Party politician and journalist. He was known for his interest in military preparedness, British India and the British Empire in general.

Condition

In a full cloth binding with gilt stamping to spine. With original dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the head and tail of spine. Dustwrapper is generally smart with chipping to the head and tail of spine. Many handling marks and age toning to wraps. Prior owner's inscription to the recto of front endpaper. Loosely inserted is a note from the author, a facsimile note found in many first edition copies, dated January 1954. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with spots to endpapers and the odd spot throughout.
