Hippolyte Taine was a French critic and historian, credited as one of the chief theoretical influences of French naturalism. First published in 1870, De L'Intelligence was one of Taine's major works, focusing on the discipline of psychology. In this work Taine outlines a scientific method tot he study of human personality, a subject which interested him from his youth.

Condition

In quarter morocco bindings with school armorial boards. Externally, smart with some rubbing and dampstaining to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright with some scattered spots.
