With a dedication from the author: Georgina Jackson, Presented by the author to the girl chosen by her companions for 'Good Manners'. County School Christmas 1902'. The first edition of the work. Part of The Roseleaf Library series of children's fiction, which also included works by Ismay Thorne, Frances E. Crompton and Roma White. Blanche Atkinson was a British novelist and author's of children's books, noted for her friendship and correspondence with influential art critic John Ruskin. This charming work is one of her earlier novels and is written in the charming style for which Atkinson is known.
Condition
In a pictorial cloth binding. Externally smart with slight shelfwear to the extremities. Slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Book slightly cocked. Dedication from the author to the front free endpaper dated Christmas 1902.Offsetting to endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with just some marginal age toning and the odd spot, heavier to the tissue guard of the frontispiece and the title page.
