'Konig Nussknacker und der Arme Reinhold' is a cautionary but entertaining tale for children.
Illustrated with twenty-nine colour plates.
Collated, bound without the title page, and without pages 1 and 4.
Written by Heinrich Hoffmann, who is best known for his other children's work, 'Der Struwwelpeter'.
From the library of the puppet theatre master John M. Blundall, with his blind stamp to the front endpaper.
Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper, noting when the book was repaired.
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, sound. Boards and spine have been repaired, with the original illustration to the front board restored. Discolouration and spots to the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, with some lifting to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, the textblock is detached from the binding, but the textblock is still firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with some spots and some marks. The first few pages with repairs, with the original illustrations being laid onto the new pages. Most of the other pages are repaired with additional leaves adhered to the reverse. Bound without the title page, and without pages 1 and 4.
