Illustrated, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

A very scarce work.

Complete as two volumes.

A charming children's work on common and interesting birds found in nature, an incredibly fascinating and educational work.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and ten plates.

Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, vignette title page, and ten plates. Six pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

Collated, complete.

Written by Charlotte Turner Smith, a Romantic poet and novelist who revived the English sonnet.

Half-title present to each volume.

Condition

In a quarter morocco binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light marks to the boards and spines, with a tidemark to the front board of Volume II. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with some spots. Page 1/2 of Volume II is torn to the tail, with no loss.
