Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
Very scarce. Issued by Peace News, a pacifist magazine first published on 6 June 1936 to serve the peace movement in the United Kingdom. A collection of articles seeking to answer the questions: why, in spite of the large amount of aid given by rich countries, do the poor stay poor while the rich get richer? and what can be done about this? Written by Sidney Lens, an American labor leader, political activist, and author; Andrew Gunder Frank, a German-American sociologist and economic historian; Malcolm Caldwell, a Scottish academic and a prolific Marxist writer; and Walter Birmingham, an Indian-born British educationist and economist who served as the warden of Toynbee Hall. With a foreword by Lord Boyd Orr, a Scottish teacher, medical doctor, biologist, nutritional physiologist, politician, businessman and farmer. Orr was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his scientific research into nutrition and work as the first Director-General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
