Description
Illustrated, Very Scarce
Two pop-up books in the original pictorial paper boards. Both pop-up books contain 3 pop-up models each and many colour illustrations accompanying the text. Collated complete. Nursery Rhyme Pop-Up Pictures is a very well-preserved pop-up book, containing some of the best-loved nursery rhymes such as Jack and Jill, Little Jack Horner and the Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe. A Day at the Zoo contains a poem by Marjorie Crossley and many lovely colour illustrations of the animals in the zoo. These books were published by Purnell and Sons, which was founded in 1839 as a small family printers based in Somerset, and later merged with other printers to become one the largest print groups in the UK and at one time a major publisher.
Condition
In the original pictorial paper boards. Externally smart, with some bumping to the extremities, the joints and the head and tail of the spine. A Day at the Zoo has a couple of losses to the head of the spine. Faint stains to the rear board of Nursery Rhyme. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, except for a couple of marks to page 2 of A Day at the Zoo. Just a little creasing to two pop-up models of Nursery Rhyme. The first pop-up model of A Day at the Zoo has a couple of creases, with one part detached. The other pop-up models are in excellent condition. Colour is bright externally and internally.
