Illustrated, Very Scarce
A pop-up book in the original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards. 2 pop-up models. Collated complete. Ink inscription to the title page. This is a Father Tuck "Come-to-Life" Little Book containing the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, with colour illustrations and pop-up models. Raphael Tuck & Sons was founded in 1866, selling pictures, greeting cards, and postcards. They started publishing books with pop-ups from the 1890s. The books in the series A Father Tuck “Come-to-Life” Little Book were small and each had two fan-folded pop-ups. Undated, dated through copies held at the British Library.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth and pictorial paper boards. Externally very smart, with a scattering of spots to the front board, and minimal bumping to the extremities and the spine. Staples are starting to rust. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean, except for a couple of marks to the paste downs. One of the pop-up models does not sit up as it should.
