What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated

In the publisher's original cloth binding. 16 plates. Collated complete. Beginning his naval service as a midshipman in the Royal Australian Navy, Lieutenant Commander Blore served in anti-submarine trawlers in the Royal Navy during the Second World War. He also managed a group of over 20 war correspondents. He later wrote a number of books on maritime affairs including Terriers of the Fleet and Turning Point—1943. Landing craft are small and medium seagoing watercraft, such as boats and barges, used to convey a landing force (infantry and vehicles) from the sea to the shore during an amphibious assault. Many different types of landing craft were used by the British during the Second World War. In this work, Blore gives accounts of military operations in which these craft, and the troops aboard them, were involved.
