Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Scarce, With Dustwrapper

Scarce with original dustwrapper, which is price clipped. Although the copyright states 1917, this edition was published c1940 as in 1935 the colour plates were discontinued. This edition has no colour plates. It also has the 'Reilly and Lee' imprint rather than the earlier 'Reilly and Britton'. This work is illustrated throughout with numerous black and white vignettes as well as full page illustrations by John R Neill. John R Neill illustrated more than forty of the Land of Oz books and his pen and ink illustrations are almost exclusively associated with Oz. He also wrote several Land of Oz books after Baum's death. L Frank Baum was an American author chiefly known for his children's books. His most famous work is his 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz' and its subsequent thirteen sequels. 'The Lost Princess of Oz' is the eleventh book of the Oz series. The story opens with the disappearance of Princess Ozma, the ruler of Oz. The tale follows Dorothy and the Wizard's journey to find her.
